Giving into my ongoing allure to mysterious, enchanted forests, this tale embodies the horror of a clandestine and cannibalistic witch and the desperation of parents abandoning their children. In a dark time of famine in old Germany, her gingerbread house sets the trap for anyone looking to survive on sweets.
